Hasan Rahman works in the field of South Asian popular culture, with a particular focus on postcolonial states and their popular cinemas. His research examines how cultural texts mediate the negotiations between top-down authoritarian structures and forms of mass resistance. His broader scholarly interests include adaptation studies, transnationalism, neoliberalism, masculinity studies, and Bangladesh studies. His works have appeared in Jump Cut, South Asian Review, and Journal of Bangladesh Studies (forthcoming). He is currently a PhD Candidate in English at the State University of New York at Binghamton and previously, studied English Literature and Film at the University of Dhaka.
