Dr. Farhana Sultana is Professor of Geography and the Environment at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs and Research Director (Environment) in the Program for the Advancement of Research on Conflict and Collaboration. She holds a degree in Geosciences and Environmental Studies from Princeton University and a PhD in Geography from the University of Minnesota, where she was a MacArthur Fellow. Author of over 100 publications, her books include Confronting Climate Coloniality (2025), Water Politics (2020), and The Right to Water (2012). Prior to academia, she managed a $26 million environmental program for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Bangladesh.
