Bio: 

Dr. Shiba P. Kar is an Associate Professor of Human Dimensions of Natural Resources at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP). Being an integrated faculty member, Dr. Kar also serves as a state-wide Extension Specialist of University of Wisconsin-Madison, Division of Extension focusing on energy and sustainability. Shiba earned his Ph.D. in Forest Resources from Pennsylvania State University, USA and Master’s in Environmental Management and Development from Australian National University, Australia.

Dr. Kar has a strong background and interest in teaching, collaborative applied research and outreach in energy, environment, and sustainability. His current research focuses on socioeconomic and regulatory perspectives of bioenergy and sustainability, and policy and practices in climate change adaptation. Prior to joining the UWSP, Shiba worked with Washington State University Extension as a faculty member of Hardwood Biofuels initiative and his postdoctoral work at Pennsylvania State University emphasized policy and practices of forest bioenergy. Dr. Kar also worked with different international organizations focused on natural resource sustainability and community development.
