Position: Associate Member

Dipak Kumar Biswas is a PhD candidate in the Department of Political Science at West Virginia University, Morgantown, USA. His research examines how elites strategically employ inclusionary institutions and oversight procedures, such as affirmative action mechanisms and legislative accountability tools, to stabilize and legitimize governance in hybrid and developing political systems. His current work advances a behavior-based approach to forecasting democratic erosion by leveraging high-frequency legislative micro-behavior as an early-warning signal of declining executive constraints. Methodologically, he integrates original archival data collection, text-as-data approaches, and interpretable machine-learning models to analyze institutional change in low-resource contexts. His research has appeared in Legislative Studies Quarterly and the Journal of Bangladesh Studies (forthcoming).
